Swift and Jackson win big at American Music Awards
It looks as though this year's American Music Awards will have a face-off between two unlikely competitors: Taylor Swift and Michael Jackson. Both have received a great deal of attention this year, and both have been nominated for artist of the year.
But it is more than a competition between the country singer and the King of Pop. The two have been recognized throughout the evening, as Swift receives six nominations and Jackson five, according to the Associated Press.
Swift's nominations include female artist and album of the year for her CD "Fearless," nominated in multiple categories: country and pop/rock. She was also nominated for favorite adult contemporary artist.
Jackson was nominated for male artist and favorite album in pop/rock and soul/R&B categories, for his compilation of big hits, "Number Ones."
And what of artist of the year? Swift and Jackson face more competition than each other. Other contenders include Lady Gaga, Kings of Leon and Eminem.
