FX Gets Rights to 'Twilight' Franchise
FX has bought out the rights to the Twilight' Franchise. The T.V. network has secured all the rights to the franchise and will begin airing the first movie, "Twilight" in late 2011. They also bought the rights to more of the Summit Entertainment which includes recent movies such as, "The Hurt Locker," Nicolas Cage's "Knowing" and "Push" which stars Dakota Fanning.
The Next installment of the saga, "New Moon" which debuted this past weekend will air on FX in 2012, and the third movie, "Eclipse" which is set to be in theaters June 30 2010 will be on FX in 2013. Summit Entertainment has yet to green-light the final movie, "Breaking Dawn" and it will be announced at a later date.
"The Hurt Locker" and "Push will debut on FX in 2012. Meanwhile, all seven movies will air on FX after they finish their run on Showtime which is a movie channel. The price FX paid deals directly with the amount of money the films made in theaters and they could potentially pay $100 million for the movies.
