Actors Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie gave about $7 million to charities in 2008.
Brad Pitt, 45, and Angelina Jolie, 34, gave $6.8 million to their charity the Jolie-Pitt Foundation. The foundation was started in 2006 to assist with humanitarian crises around the world. The couple gave more then double then 2007. The foundation raised another $6.2 million to donate to multiple charities.
The money was given to various non-profit groups close to the couple's hearts. $2 million was given to Global Health while $1 million each where given to Human Rights Watch and Pitt's own charity Make It Right Foundation committed to rebuild New Orleans.
Other organizations were the school district in Springfield, Missouri where Pitt was born and raised that received $50,000. $500,000 went to the Armed Services YMCA of the U.S. Army. Another $1 million went to a range of projects in Cambodia, the country where their first adopted son Maddox is from.
