Middle School Students Attacked For Being Red-Haired

Seven students were attacked after a Facebook message declared "Kick a Ginger Day"

Eight boys are under investigation after red-haired students were attacked, Los Angeles Times reported.

On Friday four girls and three boys were attacked at A.E. Wright Middle School in Los Angeles.

The attacks began with a 12-year-old boy was assaulted by classmates who cut and bruised him. This was the most serious attack, other attacks were more about bullying and intimidating the other children.

The attacks were caused after a Facebook message which stated that Friday was "Kick a Ginger Day" which caused the children at the middle school to bully, push and harass the red-haired kids.

Authorities believe the seventh and eighth graders believed to have taken part of the attacks were inspired by an episode from Comedy Central's cartoon "South Park." The 2005 episode shows the characters being prejudiced against red-haired children whom they refer to as "gingers."

No arrests have been made, and officials are thinking about possibly investigating the incidents as assaults with a deadly weapon.
