Tiger Woods To Skip His Own Tournament
But he said he was "fine" after the crash! Guess not fine enough.
Tiger Woods, professional golf's No. 1 player, won't be attending his own Chevron World Challenge in California.
Woods cited injuries due to a one-car crash on Friday as his reason for not attending.
Woods' released a statement on his Web site explaining his exclusion from the game.
"I am extremely disappointed that I will not be at my tournament this week ... I am certain it will be an outstanding event and I'm very sorry that I can't be there."
Woods crashed into a fire hydrant and then a tree in a neighboring garden, and was later treated in hospital for facial cuts, with some reports saying that his wife, Elin Nordegren, the supermodel, had smashed a window of the vehicle with a golf club to reach Woods, who was drifting in and out of consciousness.
Woods' site also says the 14-time-winner will not compete in any more events this year. The tournament's spokespeople say they are trying to find someone to take Tiger's spot and that it would come from one of the top 50 players in the world, TMZ.com reports.
