Christopher Walken Hits Broadway
You can't say this doesn't seem interesting.
Christopher Walken will play Carmichael, a man searching for his missing hand in "A Behanding in Spokane," Martin McDonagh's black comedy set to open March 4 on Broadway.
Producer Robert Fox says Anthony Mackie, Sam Rockwell and Zoe Kazan will join the Academy Award-winner in the dark play, which begins previews Feb. 15 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre and will run for 16 weeks.
Fox says Walken was offered the part without an audition, according to a Wall Street Journal blog. Walken was asked to read the play with costar Sam Rockwell before agreeing to perform, Fox says.
Walken, 66, won an Oscar for his role in "The Deer Hunter" and has also appeared in the films "Annie Hall," "Pennies From Heaven," "Wedding Crashers" and the musical version of "Hairspray."
McDonagh is the author of the Tony-nominated plays "The Beauty Queen of Leenane," "The Lonesome West" and "The Pillowman."
