New "Scrubs" Season Premieres on ABC
Scrubs will start its ninth season on Tuesday on ABC. This is the second season airing on ABC.
Although the title of the show is still the same, this season of "Scrubs" will be different than the eight previous seasonsit will be taking place in med school and featuring doctors and med students.
Zach Braff, who played lead character J.D., will be back for 6 of the 13 episodes, Sarah Chalke (Elliot) will be back for 4, and Donald Faison (Turk) and John C. McGinley (Dr. Cox) will be series regulars.
Braff was reluctant to go back because the finale of season eight was such a perfect ending, but he tells USA Today that he had a great time. "There was a new energy because there's lots of new writers and cast members and just a wonderful new vibe," Braff said.
Bill Lawrence, the executive producer of the show, says the show's success will depend on whether or not the new actors will be able to carry the show the same way J.D., Elliot, and Turk did.
"Scrubs" has three new main characters coming to the showKerry Bishé, Dave Franco, and Michael Mosleyand one returning character from last seasonEliza Coupe. Bishé, Franco, and Mosley all play med students, and Coupe will play the faculty advisor.
The new season of "Scrubs" starts Tuesday, December 1 at 9:00 p.m. on ABC.
