Former Miss Argentina Dies of Cosmetic Surgery Complications
The former Miss Argentina, Solange Magnano died on Sunday, announced TIME Magazine.
After having a gluteoplasty, a surgery to lift and have firmer buttocks, Magnano suffered complications and died in a Buenos Aires hospital.
The 1994 winner of Miss Argentina died of pulmonary embolism after liquid injected during the procedure arrived at her lungs and brain.
The mother of 7-year-old twins spent three days in critical care.In 2004 American novelist Olivia Goldsmith died of a cardiac arrest during a facelift, later in 2007 Kanye West's mother died of complications from plastic surgery, and in September a woman in Miami died of complications from a liposuction surgery.
According to TIME Magazine, medical tourism has been increasing in Argentina since there is a lower cost for cosmetic procedures.
The Senate is currently debating whether a 5% tax should be imposed on cosmetic surgeries. Magnano had been working on a runway show scheduled for December of this year.
