Former U.S. President Bill Clinton has expressed his excitement about the engagement of his daughter, Chelsea, to investment banker Marc Mezvinsky.

"He is great. He is a great human being," the former president said Tuesday as he left a panel discussion at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, where his daughter is a graduate student. The gathering was fashioned to attract attention to World AIDS Day.

A source close to the Clintons states how much the ex-president "adores" Mezvinsky and thinks of him as the son he never had.

According to People.com, "Ever since Mezvinsky, 31, and Chelsea Clinton, 29, announced their engagement last week, her dad's been beaming from ear to ear – he's just that fond of the new addition to the family."

It seems the three have become extremely close, especially when Hillary Rodham Clinton is traveling.

"Chelsea and Marc and Bill go out to dinner, or they go to Chappaqua and go to the movies." the source said. "It's a very comfortable relationship. This is a nurturing relationship."

Chelsea Clinton is a graduate of Stanford University and earned a Master's degree at University College Oxford in international studies. In 2003, Clinton joined the consulting firm McKinsey & Company in New York but, in the fall of 2006, she left McKinsey and went to work for Avenue Capital Group, which was founded in 1995 and is a global investment firm that focuses on distressed securities and private equity with regional teams focusing on opportunities in the United States.

Mezvinsky is also a graduate of Stanford University. He is the son of former Iowa congressman Edward Mezvinsky and former Pennsylvania congresswoman Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky. He currently works for 3G Capital Management and was with Goldman Sachs as an investment banker
