American Idol Dropout Gets Deal

Mario Vazquez signs deal with J Records.

Fan favorite Mario Vazquez, who dropped out of American Idol when he was selected into the top 12, signed a recording contract with J Records. J Records, which is run by music legend Clive Davis, is the same label that American Idol winners Fantasia Barrino and Ruben Studdard are on. Vazquez is 27 years old and hails from Bronx, New York where he grew up listening to doo-wop and Motown. His album is set to be released in the spring. Vazquez says his upcoming album will cover various musical genres.
