Susan Boyle reaches top of U.S. charts
Susan Boyle was a major singing success in Britain. And now in the U.S. too, as the 48-year-old Scottish singer made her way from TV series "Britain's Got Talent" to the top of American charts.
"Britain's Got Talent" introduced her to Britain, as Youtube videos were released following her performance and making her talent known throughout the world.
Her album reached number one Wednesday, selling 701,000 copies and becoming the best-selling premiere of the year, reported ABC News.
Her album, titled "I Dreamed a Dream," was also the best U.S. opening of a debut album for a female singer since 1991, when Nielsen SoundTrack began tracking sales.
Her album is also a hit in Australia, Ireland and, of course, Britain, having topped the charts in each country.
