Rapper Snoop Dogg Supports Youth Football League

The rap-artist invites kids to play in his new football league - but are others getting their cleats left in the dust?

For rapper Snoop Dogg, there's more to life than "gin and juice," like pimpin' rides and hangin' in the hood - well, sort of. Rap-artist and father, Snoop, has started his own football league after coaching his son's Orange County team, two years ago. Players (we're talking football, here) were lured to the Snoop camp with buses fully equipped with DVD players (where the kids could watch play video), TV screens, and a sound system to make any rapper proud.

Although his intentions are good, some children and coaches have expressed resentment because other league teams are clearly not getting the attention nor the players they once had.

"I'm mad at Coach Snoop," said 10-year-old Xavier Bernal, a player for the Rowland Raiders. "He was so cool... but now I just want to ask him, why did he take all our players?"

Even so, the rapper simply feels that his noble efforts are for the good of the kids and community.

"It's so easy for a kid to join a gang, to do drugs," Snoop said. "We should make it that easy to be involved in football and academics."
