Bacon Brothers Sizzle on Stage

Can you really have a parade without costumes and props? Certainly not!

Hence Save the Mummers, and actor Kevin Bacon and his brother, Michael, are helping out.

The Bacon brother performed at a fundraising concert Saturday night to raise money for the annual Mummer Parade, a century-old Philadelphia tradition.

The parade of marchers and musicians is held every New Year's Day. The first official parade happened in 1901 but the tradition dates to the 17th century, ABC News' Web site reports.

Save the Mummers chairman George Badey says proceeds from the concert will help pay for city services related to the parade and provide prize money to cover the costs of costumes and props, the site reports.
