EMI Joins Music Video Site Vevo
EMI Group PLC company joined music video site Vevo, announced The New York Times.
The Vevo Website is set to launch on Tuesday and will be replacing videos which are available through Google Inc.'s site YouTube.
Vevo content will include music from EMI, Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment and Abu Dhabi Media Co., part of the Abu Dhabi government.
As opposed to Universal Music Group, which has the largest stake in the venture, EMI will not take any stakes with the new company.
In November, EMI became the only major recording company to put music videos on video Web site Hulu.
Vevo will be launching as a Web site and an embedded video player, and will have artists such as Coldplay and Katy Perry, who are under the London-based EMI Group, videos available.
The Web site will include links which will allow viewers to buy the songs from site such as Amazon.com, iTunes and to the artists' merchandise.
