Jenny McCarthy Wants To Be A "Rockin" Grandma
Actress/comedian/model/activist Jenny McCarthy is already prophesizing what "rockin' grandparents her and her boyfriend of four years, Jim Carrey, will be to McCarthy's daughter's first child.
"I think he's going to make the world's best [grandfather] because he is so animated," McCarthy, 37, told PEOPLE on Monday at ABC Family's World Record Elf Party in New York City. "I also think I am going to rock as the grandma. I love her and I am excited about this baby."
McCarthy's 22-year-old daughter Jane is due to give birth in March.
McCarthy does concede that she has a habit of being too pushy at times but she and 47-year-old Carrey have resolved to try their best to keep their baby raising opinions to themselves.
"My biggest lesson in it will probably be to just shut up and just let her raise the baby the way that she wants it," she says. "I think grandparents can kind of overstep their boundaries. I'm going to try to be there as a friend and a cool grandma."
McCarthy will get her first chance to prove herself as she plans for her daughter's baby shower.
"I will be planning [Jane's] baby shower in January," McCarthy says. "I have to try and think of those baby games. My mom did the chocolate Raisinets in the diaper but I'm not sure I can go there!"
As for McCarthy herself, she started out as a Playboy playmate in 1993 before she decided to embark on a television and film career. In the mid-90s, she gained mainstream popularity as the host of the MTV dating show "Singled Out." In 1997, McCarthy got her own MTV sketch show appropriately titled "The Jenny McCarthy Show." Though its popularity caused NBC to pick it up as a network sitcom called "Jenny," it was touted as a disappointment and was quickly canceled.
She also starred in feature films such as 2000's "Scream 3," 2003's "Scary Movie 3" and 2008's "John Tucker Must Die."
Outside Hollywood, McCarthy has written books on parenting and has become an activist promoting scientifically unsupported claims that vaccines cause autism. Her involvement with the cause stems from the fact that her son, Evan, who was born in 2002, has been diagnosed as having autism.
