Courtney Love Goes to Rehab
Things are about to get a 'hole' lot tougher for rocker Courtney Love. As the 41-year-old former lead singer of the rock band, Hole, listened to a judge tell her that she must "hit rock bottom," before truly overcoming her drug addiction, tears welled in Love's eyes.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Rand Rubin said, "I'm convinced that you need either a long-term program or a long-term stay in the county jail." After pleas from Love's attorneys to give her one more chance to avoid incarceration by placing her immediately into a "chemical dependency center," Judge Rubin decided to place her in rehab rather than jail.
Love must return to court on September 16 to review her progress, where the Judge will levy a sentence for her probation violation. This stems from an incident last month in which Love was taken by ambulance from the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel to a hospital, due to her involvement with "some sort of narcotic."
Love's attorney, Howard Weitzman, acknowledged that his client suffered a "relapse," but she was determined to "move forward" in her recovery. For now, Love will remain at an undisclosed residential treatment facility.
