ABC is filling its airwaves with love as it readies to premiere a speed dating reality special entitled "Conveyor Belt of Love."
According to an article on Variety.com, "The one-hour special is set to air on Monday, Jan. 4 at 10 p.m., behind the premiere of 'The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love.' 'Conveyor Belt' will feature 30 men as they rotate on a conveyor belt in front of five women. The guys have about a minute to make an impression -- and if interested, the women can pluck them from the stage. If another more interesting guy then glides by, they can swap out their first pick for the new one. After the the women make their picks, they go out on a date -- and figure out if they made the right selection.'"
Endemol USA is the production company that is "conveying" the special. The Netherlands-based production company was also behind the infamous 2001 reality show "Chains of Love," which aired on UPN.
Tom Shelly, who will be "Conveyor Belt's" showrunner, calls the special a "tongue-in-cheek approach" to the process. He also added should "Conveyor Belt" be a hit, it could easily be turned into a regular reality series. The Variety.com article goes on to jokingly say, "Call it "'The Bachelor'-meets-the-baggage-claim-at-LAX.'"
