Original Catwoman Catches Cat Burglar
Actress Julie Newmar finds her stolen jewelry for sale on eBay.
Julie Newmar, who played Catwoman on the old Batman TV show, has caught the suspected cat burglar who stole $25,000 worth of jewelry from her.
Newmar, 76, was surfing the internet recently when she "discovered the items for sale on eBay." Authorities say they tracked the items back to Robert Ouriel, a former acquaintance of Newmar.
According to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office, Ouriel, 48, took the jewelry from Newmar's Westside home in October or November 2008. Prosecutors say he then sent the jewelry to an Illinois pawnbroker, who put it on eBay.
Ouriel has been arrested and charged with grand theft. If convicted, he faces up to three years in prison. He is currently out on bail.
