Survivor Samoa: Another Two Bite the Dust

in
The old Foa Foa now has the advantage, but will their group alliance make it all the way to the end?

With only two episodes left this season, the one thing more mysterious than who will reach the end, is how Russell has still managed to escape the chopping block.

When the players returned to camp after last week's tribal council, I patiently waited for Shambo and Russell to come to blows. After all, Russell did switch the vote at the last minute and didn't inform Shambo. It seemed obvious she would go postal. But nothing happened. She simply told Russell the next person to go would be Dave. Russell on the other hand set his sights on the only remaining threat to him - Brett.

There was no reward challenge this week, but TWO immunity competitions instead. The first featured a bowling showdown that Jaison won. Back at camp, Dave worried about his safety in the game, but Russell offered him hope, offering to sway the vote to Shambo. Russell admitted he no longer needed Shambo since he had the numbers. However, this plan was not carried out, and Dave was sent packing.

Although Galu started with a distinct advantage over Foa Foa, now with only two original Galu members remaining, Monica's and Brett's chances of surviving the next vote looked bleak. Monica did all she could to stir up trouble around camp. She tried to drive a wedge between him and his teammates, twisting around Jaison's words to make it seem he was plotting against Russell. This ruffled Russell's feathers to say the least. Also, his reaction further fueled Mick's paranoia that Russell may not be trustworthy.

Finally, it looked like Russell would finally get what he had coming to him. But as usual, I was left bitterly disappointed. He whipped out his hidden immunity idol and wore it, letting everyone know he had it but leaving them wondering if he would use it. It turns out he didn't need it because his allies stayed loyal to him and voted out Monica.

Unlike past seasons, I honestly have no clue what will happen. This season has been so unpredictable that the slightest new development could turn everything on its head and favor another player. This ongoing suspense is making for some intriguing and memorable "Survivor" history.
