Video Music Awards with a Latin Flavor

MTV Latin America announced its nominations for their version of the Video Music Awards. Shakira leads the awards with six nominations including artist of the year and best female artist. Juanes and Miranda both have five nominations. Molotov, Reik and Andrea Echeverri received 4 nods. Best New International Artist could go to non-Spanish speakers Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani, or Ashlee Simpson. Shakira, the Foo Fighters, Simple Plan, and Good Charlotte are scheduled to perform at the show. The MTV Video Music Awards Latin America will air live on MTV2 at the Great Tlacho Theater in Xcaret in Playa del Carmen, Mexico on October 20.
