Actor Bob Denver passes away
Bob Denver, the actor who played Gilligan on the 60s sitcom ‘Gillgan’s Island’ has died at the age of 70. Denver passed away Friday, September 2nd at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in North Carolina from cancer treatment complications. He was with his wife and children. This past May, the actor had quadruple bypass heart surgery.
Denver was also known as Maynard G. Krebs from ‘The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis’ which aired from 1959-1963, but his most popular role was that of the goofy and loveable Gilligan. Gilligan’s Island ran from 1964 to 1967, but reruns continue to entertain audiences.
