Eviction Notice for CBGB
Punk rock club CBGB received its eviction notice yesterday.
CBGB received its eviction notice yesterday, just one week after the lease for New York's haven for punk rock was up. The 76 year old owner, Hilly Kristal, will continue to run the club and will disregard the eviction notice. Kristal is looking to schedule a meeting with Mayor Mike Bloomberg to discuss negotiations. Kristal hopes that the Mayor will do his best to mediate the quarrel with the Bowery Residents Committee. Last week Bloomberg showed his support for the club by holding up a "Save CBGB" shirt at a press conference. The Bowery Residents Committee does not want to negotiate and is in search of a new tenant.
