Universal's OutKast

Universal Pictures signed off on a deal with OutKast and HBO films to have distribution rights for their film. OutKast, which consists of members Benjamin Andre (Andre 3000) and Antwan Patton (Big Boi), star in the film. The film is set in a southern speakeasy in the 1930's. Benjamin's character is Percival, the club's piano player, while Patton plays Rooster, the lead singer and manager of the club. Other stars featured in the film include Ving Rhames, Terrence Dashon Howard of Hustle & Flow fame, and singer Patti LaBelle. Bryan Barber, who collaborated on many of OutKast's videos, directed the film.

OutKast's upcoming album will feature songs from the film. The film is scheduled for a wide release in 2006.
