Television Honors Its Best
The 57th Annual Primetime Emmys took place last night at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The show kicked off with a performance by Chicago singing their song "September" with the Black Eyed Peas. Comedian Ellen DeGeneres hosted the show which featured a new segment called Emmy Idol where television actors competed and sang the themes to classic TV shows. Will and Grace star Megan Mullally and an overall wearing Donald Trump won the viewers' vote with their version of "Green Acres."
Lost and Everybody Loves Raymond were given the highest TV honor last night. Newcomer Lost took home the Emmy for Best Drama Series while veteran Everybody Loves Raymond won Best Comedy Series. Medium's Patricia Arquette nabbed the Emmy for Lead Actress in a Drama Series. James Spader received his second Emmy for Lead Actor in a Drama Series, winning for his character Alan Shore on ABC's Boston Legal. Spader won the same award last year for playing the same character on The Practice. Felicity Huffman was the winning "housewife" taking the Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category. Monk's Tony Shalhoub won in the male category. Boston Legal took home another award with William Shatner's best Supporting Actor in a Drama series win. Huff's Blythe Danner won the Emmy for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Everybody Loves Raymond also conquered the Supporting Actor/Actress categories with wins from Doris Roberts and Brad Garrett.
