Extreme Makeover Wannabe Sues Show for Sister's Suicide

Deleese Williams filed a $1 million dollar lawsuit against ABC's Extreme Makeover for provoking the suicide of her sister. Williams wanted to appear on Extreme Makeover to change her appearance. In January 2004, an ABC crew visited Williams and questioned her family about what they thought of her looks. The lawsuit claims that the show's producers coerced the family, particularly her sister Kellie McGee, into saying cruel things about Williams' looks. The day before her surgery was to take place, Extreme Makeover cancelled Williams' appearance on the show because the doctor that was supposed to fix her jaw said her recovery would take longer than expected. According to the lawsuit, McGee killed herself four months later because she was so upset over what she had said about her sister on camera.
