Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Annouces Nominations

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced its nominations.

It was announced today that fifteen performers have the opportunity to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year. John Mellancamp, Miles Davis, Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five, Blondie, Cat Stevens, The Sex Pistols, Lynyrd Skynard, and Black Sabbath are among the most popular artists nominated. The Patti Smith Group, the Stooges, the Dave Clark Five, the J Geils Band, Chic, Joe Tex, and Sir Douglas Quintet round out the rest of the nominations.

In order to be nominated, 25 years must have past since the artists' first record was released. A panel of musicians, industry professionals, and journalists make the final decision on who among the fifteen will be inducted. The inductees are usually announced by the end of the year and the ceremony takes place in New York in March.
