McCready Comes Clean

Country singer Mindy McCready told the court that she tried to commit suicide.

Country singer Mindy McCready was in a Tennessee court Monday explaining why she violated her probation.

On May 6, the "Guys Do It All the Time" singer was pulled over for speeding, and was found to be driving drunk with a suspended license. Two days later, the 29-year-old singer was beaten and nearly choked to death by her boyfriend, William McKnight. A month later, she was charged with unlawful use of transportation, unlawful imprisonment and hindering prosecution regarding a stolen pick up truck in Arizona.

McCready claims she had nothing to do with the pick up truck incident, and was a victim of mistaken identity. The singer felt she couldn't deal with her life anymore after she found out in June that she was pregnant.

While in court, she said that she went against her probation; leaving the state because she wanted to see her family after all of the hardships she had been though. She was arrested in Florida for probation violation as well as not contacting her probation officer throughout the month of July. McCready told the court that she wanted to end her life after she found out that she was pregnant, so she tried to overdose on pills.
