Oprah Takes On Broadway

Oprah Winfrey has announced that she will produce The Color Purple on Broadway. Winfrey is investing over $1 million into the musical. As a result, the musical will be called Oprah Winfrey Presents: The Color Purple. The cast of The Color Purple, will also appear as guests on Oprah Winfrey's daytime talk show. Winfrey hopes that her involvement in bringing the show to Broadway will lure audiences that won't usually consider seeing a Broadway show.

Oprah Winfrey Presents: The Color Purple will begin its preview run on November 1 and opens on December 1 at the Broadway Theater.
