First Lady Laura Bush was on hand for a taping of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in Biloxi, Mississippi. Bush contacted the show wanting to help rebuild the area that was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Show regulars like Ty Pennington were not present for the shoot because of a previous taping conflict. Pennington and others were in the middle of rebuilding a home elsewhere when the Bush taping was quickly put together. Bush, along with the show's designer Preston Sharp distributed housing materials and clothes to the people whose homes were ravaged by the hurricane. The show featuring the First Lady is expected to air during November sweeps.
