The Chewbacca actor will become an American citizen.
Peter Mayhew, the man who played Chewbacca in the Star Wars films, will be becoming an American citizen on Monday. The 60-year-old British born actor will be among 440 others at the Arlington Convention Center for the naturalization ceremony. The 7-foot-3 actor compares the media frenzy surrounding his naturalization to that of when the Star Wars films came out.
Mayhew has been working towards his U.S. citizenship for three years. He decided to become a citizen after he married his Texas born wife, Angelique, six years ago. As of Monday, Mayhew will have dual citizenship. He will be a citizen of both the United States and Britain.
