Garner and Affleck are Proud Parents

According to U.S. Weekly, Alias star Jennifer Garner gave birth to a baby girl. The 33-year-old Emmy-nominated actress was due on December 8, but her labor was induced on Wednesday night. Husband Ben Affleck was with her throughout the birth. The couple planned on naming their first child Violet, so most of the gifts from the baby shower were purple.

The 33-going-on-13 actress wed Affleck on June 29 in a small ceremony on the island of Turks and Caicos. The wedding took place about two months after talks of her pregnancy were made public. Garner met the Armageddon star on the set of their film Daredevil, but the two did not begin dating until after his engagement to Jennifer Lopez ended, and she split from Alias co-star Michael Vartan.

Garner will be on an eight week maternity leave before she heads back to her prime-time drama Alias, which will end its run this season. She also stars in the film Catch and Release, which will be coming out early next year. Affleck, who has not starred in any movies this year, has three movies scheduled for release in 2006.
