Pitt Hopes to Adopt Maddox and Zahara

Brad Pitt wants to legally be a father to Angelina Jolie's adopted children. He filed the paperwork in a Los Angeles court on Friday which states that the couple wants to change the names of 4-year-old Maddox Jolie and 11-month-old Zahara Jolie to Maddox Jolie-Pitt and Zahara Jolie-Pitt. Pitt's publicist, Cindy Guagenti, confirmed the news to the Associated Press saying, "We are confirming that Brad Pitt is in the process of becoming the adoptive father of both children. No further comment is being made."

Pitt accompanied Jolie to Ethiopia when she adopted Zahara and has been acting as a father figure to Maddox, including teaching him how to ride a dirt bike.

Sparks flew for the couple on the set of their film Mr. and Mrs. Smith (which was just released on DVD) where they played an onscreen husband and wife. Pitt split from Jennifer Aniston in January. The Friends star filed for divorce in March, but it was not final till October.
