A Bronx Tale Star Involved in Bronx Shooting
Actor Lillo Brancato Jr. was involved in a fatal shooting in the Bronx, NY early Saturday morning. Brancato and known burglar 48-year-old Steven Armento are suspected of burglarizing the home of NYPD Officer Daniel Enchautegui's neighbor and later killing the officer.
Officer Enchautegui, who was off duty at the time, heard the sound of broken glass and investigated the scene. He called 911 for backup and was monitoring the home when the two men came out. One man, said to be Aremnto, was armed. Witnesses say that Armento fired the first shot, hitting Officer Enchautegui in the chest. Officer Enchautegui responded by shooting Armento four times and the 29-year-old "Renaissance Man" actor twice. Officer Enchautegui collapsed in his driveway. He was taken to the hospital where he later died. Armento and Brancato tried to flee the scene. Brancato was found, without a weapon, leaning against a car and was arrested. Police yelled at Armento to drop his gun. Armento dropped his gun and then fell to the ground. He was also taken into custody.
Both Armento and Brancato are in the hospital in serious condition. It is said that the two may have been trying to rob a drug dealer, but ended up at the wrong house.
