Stern Takes His "Indecency" to Satellite
Howard Stern started his first day on Sirius satellite radio today. The shock jock didn't take too much advantage of his newfound freedom to say whatever he wants without getting fined. Stern said, "I have a personal rule that I'm not going to curse." He also made it a point to not encourage the rest of his crew or the callers to do so. He may be trying to not personally use profanity, but he did play some tapes that contained indecent language. He used words and terms that would have most likely gotten him fined by the FCC, had he not been on satellite radio. He had cost his former employers, Infinity Broadcasting, about $2.5 million in indecency fines. Stern said of his new job at Sirius, "We are going to go to new places and that doesn't mean the F-word. If that's what satellite means, then that's ridiculous. Then it's just pornography."
Stern also took some time from his first show to squash marriage rumors. He said that he did not marry girlfriend Beth Ostrosky. It was rumored that the two wed on New Year's Eve in Mexico.
