Brokeback Mountain Wrangles a Critics` Choice Award
Ang Lee's Brokeback Mountain, a story of the love affair between two gay cowboys (Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal), won Best Picture in the 11th Annual Critics' Choice Awards. Brokeback also earned awards for Best Director Ang Lee, and tied for Best Supporting Actress Michelle Williams. "I never, never imagined that a film from our little screenplay would be received like this. Ang, weren't we making a small film?" said writer-producer Diana Ossana, who accepted the award with Lee. Meanwhile, Phillip Seymour Hoffman got Best Actor for the titular role in Capote, Paul Giamatti won Best Supporting Actor for Cinderella Man, where he played James Braddock's boxing coach, and Reese Witherspoon won Best Actress for her role in the Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line. "I love critics," Witherspoon said. "Well, this year anyway."
