Macaulay Culkin Goes Literary.
16-Jan-2006
Written by: Carrie Ng

The “Home Alone“ star has written his first semi-autobiographical novel.

The novel is written in journal form, and reflects a troubled father-son relationship. In particular the “Junior” explores childhood abuse and the emotional rollercoaster between anger and love from the narrator’s viewpoint.
Culkin,25, became a renowned child star in 1990 playing main character “Kevin” in “Home Alone.” Culkin’s struggle with his father Kit Culkin came to an official end in 1997, when Macaulay served him with custody papers (which included discussion over Macaulay’s $17 million at the time), and divorced his parents. Macaulay has not spoken to Kit since the infamous separation.
The novel is set to be produced by Miramax Books, and in a statement is said to be “Part memoir, part rant, part comedic tour de force, Junior is full of the hard-won wisdom of Culkin's quest to come to terms with the awesome pressures of childhood mega-stardom and family dysfunction."
