The theme park could be one of up to ten facilities established by leading entertainment companies said the city's development and reform commission. As Beijing draws up plans to create the park in the southern suburb, Shanghai's plan to set up a similar park may be forced off the drawing board, the report suggests.
Shanghai has long had plans with Disney to create a theme park. But, unlike Beijing the city hasn't included Disneyland plans in any formal policy documents.
The Disneyland park development road map includes central government support for the project, which could help boost tourism trade after the Olympics.
