Golden Globes Add Animation

Next year’s Golden Globes will feature a new category, Best Animated Feature.
The Hollywood Foreign Press announced that they will add a new category to the Golden Globes, Best Animated Feature Film. In order to be eligible, the animated films must be feature length, which is at least 70 minutes long. Also, live action should occur in less than 25% of the film. Similar to the Academy Awards, if there are not at least eight animated films, then the category will not be used. Films nominated for Best Animated Feature will not be eligible for Best Picture. The new category will premiere during next year’s show in January 2007.
