An Actor's Life

Richard Bright fatality, Jon Stewart, Simpson vs. Lachey, Britney Spears and the Berlin film festival.

Tragedy struck on Saturday when actor Richard Bright, who is best known for his role as the mob enforcer, Al Neri in "The Godfather" movies, was hit by a private Academy bus as he crossed a street in his Manhattan neighborhood.

According to police, Bright was struck without the driver's knowledge of hitting anyone; thus, charges were not filed. Witnesses said they saw Bright eat in a local diner every night, which is possibly where he was headed before the fatal accident.

Born in 1937, Bright has a long list of movie credentials such as; "The Sopranos," "The Getaway," "Once Upon a Time in America," "Looking for Mr. Goodbar," and "Marathon Man." Most recently, Bright starred in "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." He will be very missed!

Excitement mounts for Jon Stewart as time ticks, moving him closer to the big day. Come March 5, Stewart has landed the job of all jobs in Hollywood - to host the Academy Awards.

"It doesn't mean you're going to have a good pro career, or even do well in the bowl game," says Stewart. "But to get to that point means something. Now you're in the club."

Talk about nerve wracking, Stewart is a first-timer to entertain not only the head honcho's in Hollywood but also 40 million viewers watching at home. Yikes! Good luck, Jon! We are rooting for you - make us laugh, babe! You can do it.

I am laughing at the Red Light District, a company that apparently has no qualms over hurting other people's feelings and distributed the unauthorized Paris Hilton sex tape to the public. Obviously lacking creative talent to profit from, the company stoops to an all time low once again, this time releasing a tape of Kid Rock and Creed singer Scott Stapp getting down with four female fans on a tour bus. By the way, this incident happened over six years ago. Come on, Red Light! Get a life.

Taking steps to move on with their lives are Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson. As their divorce proceedings are underway, reportedly, Lachey and Simpson are dividing their community property. That's so sad. It will all be over soon, you guys. Hang in there!

Hanging on to the memories of her traveling days is Britney Spears who reveals how much she misses it to People mag. Since her marriage and pregnancy, it's been roughly a year and a half since Spears has been on tour, performing in different cities all around the world.

"I miss the road, seeing different places and being with the dancers and having fun. That feeling of being on the stage, knowing it's your best - I love that. I needed a break. I needed to be hungry again, "said Spears.

Currently recording a new album, it is only a matter of time before Britney is back on stage, bringing down the house!
