Sopranos Can't Beat "Housewives"
The premiere of the sixth season of "The Sopranos" garnered lower ratings than expected. The HBO mob drama averaged 9.5 million viewers, while its competition at the Sunday 9pm slot, "Desperate Housewives," gave ABC 22.2 million viewers. Despite the high numbers, "Desperate Housewives" was not the most viewed show of the night. "Grey's Anatomy," which airs right after "Desperate Housewives" on ABC, raked in 22.5 million viewers. More and more people have been hooked onto "Grey's Anatomy" since it followed the Super Bowl back in February.
It seems like everyone just can't get enough of FOX's "American Idol." Last week, all three airings of "American Idol" were among the top four most viewed shows of the week.
FOX's "House" also made it into the top ten, at number seven, making FOX the most viewed network among 18-49 year olds. CBS was the second most viewed network of the week with "CSI," "CSI: Miami", "Without a Trace," and "The Unit" all in the top ten. "Grey's Anatomy" and "Desperate Housewives" gave ABC two spots in the top ten as the fifth and sixth most watched shows of the week.
