FCC Charges CBS with Indecency
CBS received the most fines in the indecency hearings on Wednesday.
On Wednesday the Federal Communications Commission charged ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC with indecency violations for shows that aired on the networks. A reported $3.9 million worth of fines was shelled out to the networks.
CBS and its affiliates received the most fines including $3.63 million for a teenage orgy scene that aired on "Without a Trace" in December 2004. CBS responded by saying that they will fight back legally because the show aired late at night and had a TV-14 rating. The FCC also maintained the CBS pay the $550,000 fine for the 2004 Super Bowl halftime incident where Janet Jackson's breast was flashed on-air.
