LA vs. Family of Notorious B.I.G - Court Battle Settled
Due to police errors during the case of the wrongful death of rapper Chris Wallace (Notorious B.I.G.), the city of Los Angeles was order to pay 1.1 million dollars for legal fees and other expenses incurred by the family during the case. The vote was unanimous after learning a member of the LAPD withheld information relating to the family's case. According to CBS News, when asked about the case Councilman Dennis Zine said, "It's unfortunate, but we don't have any choice," in regards to the 11-0 vote. He continued to say, "We had a case here where an experienced detective made a mistake and the city and its taxpayers have to pay for it." Still unsolved, the murder of Chris Wallace was believed by some to be orchestrated by rival record mogul Marion "Suge" Knight. The families lawsuit claims Knight enlisted a corrupt LAPD officer to arrange Wallace's death. A retrial of the case is scheduled later this year.
