Prince 3121 Debuts at Number 1
For the first time in his iconic career, Prince has an album debut at number 1.
A cultural icon paralleled by few, many assume in his nearly thirty year career Prince has done it all. However, he recently made a very significant career achievement; as his latest LP 3121 had its debut at number one on the Billboard album charts. According to Nielsen SoundScan, 3121 totaled 183,000 copies sold in its first week. Although he has reached the top spot with several albums such as: 1989's Batman soundtrack, 1985's Around the World in a Day and his 1984 mega-smash, Purple Rain, his first release under Universal is the only to enter the charts at the top.
