Ice Age Melts Away the Competition

Ice Age: The Meltdown debuted as the number one film at the box office, while "Basic Instinct 2" debuted at number ten.

Families packed theaters this past weekend to see the "Ice Age" sequel. "Ice Age: The Meltdown" debuted atop of the box office with $70.5 million, blowing away the competition. Last week's number one film, "Inside Man" dropped to number two with $15.7 million. "ATL" starring R&B artists T.I. and Big Boi made its first appearance in theaters this week and was the third most watched film. "Failure to Launch" remained in fourth, making $6.6 million. "V for Vendetta" was next at number five with $6.4 million. "Stay Alive" came in at number six followed closely behind by "She's the Man." "Slither" and "The Shaggy Dog" were at seven and eight. There was a tie for tenth place at box office this weekend. "Basic Instinct 2" and "Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector" both earned $3.2 million.
