D12's Proof Killed

Rapper Proof was shot to death early Tuesday morning at a Detroit nightclub.

Rapper Proof of the group D12 was shot and killed early Tuesday morning. The 32-year-old rapper, whose real name is Deshaun Holton, was shot in the head after a scuffle in C.C.C. nightclub on 8 Mile Road in Detroit. Another victim, a 35-year-old who was also shot in the head, has yet to be publicly identified and is currently in critical condition at St. John's Hospital. No arrests have been made from the incident which is still under investigation.

Proof was a longtime friend of rapper Eminem and was even the best man at his January wedding. He often rapped alongside Eminem at his concerts. He appeared in his film "8 Mile" and also played a gunshot victim in the video for Eminem's song "Like Toy Soldiers." Proof was one of the founders of the multi-platinum selling rap group D12. He released his first solo album "Searching for Jerry Garcia" in August 2005. D12 was supposed head back to the studio at the end of the month to record some tracks for the group's third album.
