Veronica Mars Recap 4/11
12-Apr-2006
Written by: Carli Thorkelson

So many theories, so little time.

This episode starts with Veronica waking up in class from a dream and then being sent to the school counselor. The one Keith used to date.

The counselor asks Veronica if there’s anything she’d like to tell her. Veronica says yeah, but Jennifer Love Hewitt might be more qualified. The kids in the bus crash are haunting her and, you know, she’s the ghost whisperer.

The episode consists of a lot of dream sequences with Veronica and her classmates being on the bus. The first one is with Meg wearing a “Baby on Board” shirt. She talks about a janitor named Lucky who her parents tried to set her up with. Veronica already knew this because she had been reading Meg’s e-mails that were given to Duncan.

Meg says, “In Veronicaland no pulse, no privacy.”

We learn of one student who is trying to raise money to buy a yearbook spread for all of the kids who died on the bus crash. Veronica calls her a “total nut job.”

We then get a flashback scene between the girl and Veronica. The girl has a voicemail from one of the student’s right before the bus crashed and they’re all laughing. We then hear a familiar voice, one from someone who was not on the bus. Dick Casablancas. How can that be?

The counselor asks if Veronica has told her dad about the dreams and then we flashback again. This time, Veronica wakes up from her dream yelling and Keith walks in. He asks her if she was watching House of Wax again because that Hilton girl gives her nightmares.

Veronica apparently snuck onto the bus awhile back and found a drawing on the back of one of the seats. It said, “I am God,” and had nine tombstones drawn. Only eight people died, but Veronica says they must not have figured that she was going to get off the bus.

We are then treated to a LoVe (that’s Veronica and Logan) flashback of the two making out in Logan’s car.

Logan and Wallace’s science class has an assignment of making a device that will not break an egg when it’s dropped. Logan and Wallace are involuntarily partnered up. The winners do not have to take the final exam for the class.

We learn Dick used to date Betina, who as Wallace puts it is PWT (poor white trash). She also died on the bush crash. Apparently we heard Dick’s voice on that tape because Betina was playing the voicemail for everyone to hear on the bus.

Veronica then talks to one of Betina’s friends and we learn that Dick used to treat Betina like “a free hooker.” And she let him because her plan was to get pregnant and then take all of his money. Giving Dick reason to cause the crash.

Logan and Wallace are working on their egg project and they make something that works well enough to get a passing grade.

Veronica thinks she saw her dad at school and asks him if he’s rekindled his romance with the school counselor. He ignores her and hands her a letter from Stanford. Apparently everyone is getting their acceptance letters now. The O.C. gang just got theirs last week.

Stanford is Veronica’s dream school, so it’s a good thing she was accepted.

Veronica and Angie (the girl who is fighting with Veronica for the top G.P.A.) are sent to the principal’s office. Apparently there was a grade miscalculation and Angie should have been given more points for her A in the summer at sea elective, which was a college course. The course was too much money for Veronica to take. Now that Veronica is not the top student, she cannot get the Kane scholarship, so her dreams of Stanford are on hold.

Veronica brings up her dad dating again to the counselor and she has no idea what she’s talking about.

Keith starts going on dates with many women, but we find out later he has an ulterior motive. One woman compares him to George from Seinfeld.

Wallace and Logan pass the egg test and now can aim higher and drop it from a higher distance so they don’t have to take the final. Both Wallace and Logan realize that if they win, Angie has to take the final exam and she might not have the top G.P.A. anymore.

Veronica finds Rhonda’s (PWT) sister who is now driving a corvette which makes Veronica wonder which family’s were paid for their kid’s dying in the crash.

Wallace and Logan work on their project again and you can see the beginning of a friendship. Maybe. Wallace turns on the TV and Tinseltown Diaries is on again, the show about Aaron Echolls and his family. That can’t be a coincidence.

Keith finds out that none of the family’s of the bus crash victims made money on insurance, but Rhonda’s family won a separate lawsuit with a secret $2 million payout from Woody Goodman, the mayor. Odd.

Veronica sneaks into the principal’s office to look in their permanent records for clues. The principal and Keith then walk into the room, so she hides. We find out Keith is working on a case for the principal. Apparently some doctor is diagnosing students with anxiety disorder, meaning teachers have to give them extensions on tests, makeups and other things.

Keith is on another “date” and finds a woman who is an office manager for a local doctor. Just the person he needed to find for the principal’s case.

Peter, who died on the bus crash, was gay and apparently had a thing for the science teacher Mr. Wu. He knew about it but rejected him because he says he’s not gay. Peter was gearing up for the outing of all outings. Whatever that means, we won’t find out this episode.

Another dream sequence, this time with Peter. He tells Veronica that she’s asking the wrong question and a better one would be why a gay student who hates baseball would be interested in taking the field trip to Shark Field?

Another student on the bus was PCHer Servando. Beaver says he was a pretty cool guy for a PCHer, but he had a temper and when Beav’s brother Dick did something to Servando he took it out on Beaver.

Because Keith went out with that doctor’s office manager, he gets a tape of the doctor offering to give Veronica a diagnosis of anxiety disorder for a $1,000 fee.

Angie is the only student to survive the higher drop with the egg. Wallace and Logan scramble theirs. This means Angie does not have to take the final exam and no scholarship for Veronica.

Apparently Angie didn’t study for any exams because she’s going to get an extension thanks to her anxiety disorder.

Veronica says something mean to Logan and Wallace tells her that she should cut him some slack sometimes. See, budding friendship.

Neptune high is no longer accepting special exemptions for tests, so Miss Rhonda has to take her final exams that she’s not prepared for. Maybe Veronica can go to Stanford after all.

This dream sequence is with the PCHer. He tells her that the person who caused the bus crash had to be close to the bus so they could tell when it was approaching the cliff.

Veronica finds out that the I Am God and tombstones drawn on the back of the bus seat are just an album cover.

Keith finds out that Richard Casablancas took out an insurance policy on Dick and Beaver three days after marrying Kendall. Apparently they would be worth more dead than alive. So is Richard or Kendall the cause of the crash?

Last dream sequence. This one involves one of the student’s telling Veronica that it’s her fault they’re all dead. Then the kid’s cell phone rings and says it’s for her. She takes the phone and is sitting next to the bomb and then the phone rings again.

Not sure what all this means, but we’ll find out soon enough. There are only four episodes left.
