John Mayer working on his fourth album

Musician experimenting with other ideas

Where in the world is John Mayer?

After rising into the music scene in the early 2000's John Mayer addicted fans with his rhythm and blues guitar and soulful singing. He released his debut album in 1999 titled "Inside Wants Out" and his breakthrough album "Room for Squares" a year later. In 2003 he won his first Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Performance.

John has built quite the fan base and has been known to have a following similar to Dave Matthews Band and jam band Phish.

In September of 2003 Mayer released his most recent album "Heavier Things" which showcased his growth and transition as a singer and artist.

So where is he now?

Mayer recently formed a group called The John Mayer trio which features musicians Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino. In an interview by Paul Cashmere, Mayer recalled the electricity he felt when the band formed.

"When it became me, Steve and Pino, it became this whole different thing. That set me off on a writing streak; the challenge was, 'Here's this great band -- now what are you gonna do with it?' So I went and wrote from a whole new place. So it became a band."

The trio's song "Who Did You Think I Was" has become a popular hit amongst fans and a CD was released recently featuring the bands live talents. The group toured in the end months of 2005.

Mayer has since stopped touring and is now working on his next album titled "Continuum", due out later this year.
