Dan Brown: You Just Can't Get Rid of Him.
Angels and Demons, in the works from Sony Pictures, features Robert Langdon in a plot remarkably like those of Dan Brown's other novels.
The Da Vinci Code has been out for less than a week, and already Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons" is slated for the movie treatment. The story also follows cryptologist Robert Langdon, played in "Code" by Tom Hanks, as he wades through another vast conspiracy.
According to Variety, Sony has hired a writer to adapt the novel, although neither Hanks nor director Ron Howard is currently attached to the project. Should they choose not to align themselves to the movie, the project could be dead in the water: as critic Roger Ebert declared, "Ron Howard is a better director than Dan Brown is a novelist."
"Da Vinci Code" opened this Friday to terrible reviews, but has made a mountain of cash, coming in at number one this weekend.
