Country Singer Strait Gets Honorary Doctorate
The former Agriculture Major now has an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters, whatever that means.
Country singer George Strait received an honorary doctorate in humane letters from Texas State University in a private ceremony Friday. Strait, a TSU alum, got a degree in 1979 in agriculture.
Strait is a country music legend, having recorded 52 No. 1 singles since 1982, including the most recent, "She Let Herself Go."
Strait, also the sponsor of the George Strait Team Roping Classic, was delighted, saying "Dr. Strait? I like the sound of that." He added, "I am so proud to be a graduate of Texas State University and appreciate so much that you did this for me."
