The Real World, Season 17 Episode 15, "Burn Book" Recap 5/30

Paula Meronek is undergoing a real transformation; she's started therapy and stopped drinking.

Paula has a therapy session in which she discusses her abusive relationship with her boyfriend Keith. Afterwards, she speaks with Keith on the phone telling him that her therapist said that although Keith, who's also in therapy, is making changes she is definitely taking a risk by having a relationship with him.

Later, at the Mystic Tan Salon, The Real World gang get tans and goof around, and John is especially silly. This seems to irritate Tyler Duckworth and, in the van and back at the house, he kvetches to Svetlana Shusterman and Paula about it. The girls defend John.

When the gang is in the van without Tyler, Svetlana tells John about what Tyler's been saying. John isn't pleased to hear he's being cut down behind his back.

Paula receives a lavish care package from Keith in honor of the salon's grand opening. She's touched, and tells him so on the phone. During this conversation, we learn for the first time that Keith is coming to visit Key West.

Tyler decides that it's time to talk to John about the tensions between them, and the two discuss their issues. Their conversation is successful and we see a more mature side of John. Tyler responds by complaining about Svetlana's meddling and announces he's going to make her pay.

We learn, as Paula breaks down in tears on the phone to Keith, that he will not be able to spend the night at The Real World house due to liability issues. She insists if she can't sleep next to him, she doesn't want to see him.

After she gets off the phone, Svetlana points out that some time with Keith is better than none. Svetlana also, however, takes the opportunity to say that Tyler made comments about not wanting Keith in the house either if he's abusive.

Tyler, Jose and Janelle Casanave create a "Burn Book." which lists all the annoying things that Svetlana has done.
